A story of Care, Gratitude and Giving - Lori and DJ’s story

For Lori and DJ Hawk, giving back to Milton District Hospital was deeply personal. In honour of the exceptional care DJ received from Dr. Tanya Kuper, Lori and DJ made a meaningful gift toward the da Vinci Surgical System—helping bring advanced surgical technology and enhanced patient care closer to home. Their generosity reflects not only gratitude for the care they experienced, but also a shared commitment to ensuring others can access exceptional healthcare close to home.

Recently, Lori and DJ had the opportunity to visit the hospital for a behind-the-scenes look at the impact of their contribution. During their visit, they saw firsthand how their support is helping transform surgical care at Milton District Hospital through innovative technology and improved patient experiences.

As part of their recognition, a surgical unit at the hospital was named in honour of Lori and DJ’s contribution—creating a lasting tribute to their generosity and commitment to healthcare in our community. The visit also included a deeply meaningful moment as Lori and DJ presented Dr. Tanya Kuper with a special recognition

storyboard created in appreciation of the compassionate care she provided throughout DJ’s journey. The gesture was incredibly heartfelt, and Dr. Kuper was deeply touched by their words and gratitude.

For Lori and DJ, the experience reinforced the importance of supporting local healthcare and investing in the future of patient care at Milton District Hospital. They shared that the care they received, combined with the opportunity to witness the impact of philanthropy firsthand, has strengthened their commitment to continuing to support Milton District Hospital for years to come.

Their story is a powerful reminder of how gratitude, compassion, and community generosity can come together to create lasting impact for patients and families across our community.
