Clare’s Close Call!

May 8, 2026

Giving back came naturally to me having learned from my mother and grandmother to take care of others. I understood, we always have something to give.

Herb and I married in Salzburg in ’74 and have had a lovely life. We had rewarding careers, travelled and we made sure to not miss jive dancing at the Maple Leaf Ballroom when we were younger.

“We’ve also been blessed with good health, so I was stunned to find myself in the hospital in the ‘90s. What I thought was a minor pain became a burst appendix. The doctors saved my life!

That’s when I decided to start supporting MDHF. We all need the hospital at some point.”

Since then both Herb and I have had several trips to the Milton District Hospital and each and every time, the care at the hospital has been excellent. When we updated our wills, there was no question about leaving a legacy gift. The Milton hospital has given us our quality of life and continued years together. We are forever grateful.
